Kovács Dávid: Héreg és szomszédos pusztái a középkorban

68 Kovács Dávid Héreg and its neighboring plains in the Middle Ages Kovács, Dávid The study examines the history of Héreg in the Middle Ages based on written records and the results of archaeological excavations in the area. The research is primarily focused on possession-history in the Middle Ages, using not only written records including mentions of the village (primary, secondary), but also processing and localizing the history of every former neighboring possessio or terra. Although these possessions and lands were owned by different landholders, they are mentioned (in almost all cases) together in the records. Furthermore, most of these lands - if they really had village structures - became uninhabited at the end of the Middle Ages, and these territories were later - from the 17th century - used by Héreg and Tarján. It has been established that Héreg belonged to the archbishop of Esztergom during the period - set by the records - between 1326 and 1450. According to the archaeological finds from the area of the village and the traces of archaeological sites from the Middle Ages, Héreg was located between the villages current south-southeastern border and the Postás Footpath during the Middle Ages, repeatedly changing its location. Former Szalánka, Jásti Land and Betel are worth mentioning among neighboring lands. According to diplomas, only Szalánka and Betel could have an extended village structure. By the 15th century, adjacent villages of Héreg (except perhaps Betel) had become uninhabited.
