Dallos István: Skanzen és művészet

206 Dallos István Skanzen and art István Dallos In the middle 90s, after the renovation of the old miner’s bath building in the Skanzen of Mining and Industry, the opportunity arose to exhibit works of contemporary art in Tatabánya. The photographers have started their camp 14 years ago, in 2001. At that time, a latent program has started to evolve, which became later some kind of a mission for these photographers: to capture the slowly disappearing memories of the city and the mining activity, such as the factory in Ótelep, the hospital, the Cinema Turul and the so-called beach “Cseri”. Due to the camp’s open-minded philosophy, the number of members has increased steadily over the years and contributed to the creation of their own association, Kép-Szín-Tér Photo Art Workshop Association (Kép-Szín-Tér Fotóművészeti Műhely Egyesület) ten years ago. Nowadays the association is organizing the camps in cooperation with the Museum of Tatabánya and the Foundation for Creative Artists of Tatabánya (Tatabánya Alkotó Művészeiért Alapítvány). The basic objective of these camps was to create a community of those who are engaged in photography—looking back over the years, the camps have reached this goal. The members have created their own association and organized many exhibitions over the ten years in Tatabánya, Győr, Budapest, and also in Slovakia (Érsekújvár), Romania (Székelyudvarhely) and in Poland (Bedzin). Both the camps and the exhibitions became standard and fundamental events of the city’s cultural life. Nowadays the Kép- Szín-Tér Photography Art Camp serves as an important venue for promoting photographic culture and developing photographic vision.
