Mountings detached from their sets, often reused on other belts or swords, or simply hoarded because of their silver content also come to light from contexts dated to the early fourth-century. The mostly empty beds of the niello inlay and the worn off gilding of the Brigetio strap terminal prove the longer use of

the strap terminal before its burial. This is why the grave from Brigetio can be dated to the first decades of the fourth-century too.
