Feiler József: The relic of the Danubian mounted God’s Cult from Komarom
The central figure is obviously the goddes (Mother Goddes?) because of the frequency of its representation, size and placing. The horsemen seem to have a positive relationship with the goddes but they are subjected to her because of their size and placing. The fact that their number is changing in different monuments indicates that their number is not crucial from the aspect of the cult. This way they can be regarded as personifications of some kind of (supernatural) power which has not strict connection with the number of its representation. We can find another important relation between the horsemen and the human figures (in most cases they are naked and always unarmed) trampled by the horses. In this relation we can see the trampling down of defenceless person more than a victory over enemy. The question is with whom the believer could identify himself on the representation. 357
