The History of Land-Distribution in Komárom - Esztergom County Parti József Somorjai As to the 1945 agrarian reform, it has already been presented in many studies. These studies usually concentrate only on the main connections and they deal with the local, provincial events tangentially. These studies only occasionally deal with Komárom-Esztergom county, all what one can find by chance are comparative charts. The author of the study tries to reveal the way how the land-distribution decree was carried out in Komárom-Esztergom county. Among other things we find out that in this county the distribution started with more difficulties compared to the other regions of the country. One of the reasons is the division of the landed property which was different from the other regions of the country, while the other is the different differentiation of the peasants. Besides these problems the so-called "Swabian problem" made it more difficult, mainly the effects and consequences of the removals and settlings of families. The study presents minutely the circumstances how the village and local land-distributing comitees were instituted, their activity and the work of the Estate Arranging Council and that of the Land Office. It also deals with the abuses, injustices and iniquities that occured during the land-distribution. It reveals minutely the course of the first stage of the land-distribution, it also presents the struggle against the taking back of the land and finally, taking in consideration the conditions from 1945, it summarizes the land-distribution in the county. 138
