Tata as presented in travel books and guidebooks László Gyuszi Ifj. The present study does not attempt to give a review of Tata's history but to lay stress on interesting descriptions of the town presented in early monographs, guidebooks and other brochures. We cited facts on Tata from document-provided data and works dealing with them, from writings on the country's history, geography and political, constitutional and population circumstances (Mátyás Bél, András Vályi, Elek Fényes, János Hunfalvy), as well as from literature (Ferenc Kazinczy). Tata im Spiegel von Landbeschreibungen und Reisebücher László Gyüszi d. J. Die Ziel unserer Abhandlung ist nicht die Darstellung der Tataer Geschichte sondern die Vorführung von interresanten Beschreibungen aus früher ausgegebenen Monographien, Landbeschreibungen und Reisebüchern. Wir zitierten neben Urkunden und deren Bearbeitungen auch Angaben aus seit dem 18. Jahrhundert erschienenen statistischen Büchern (von Matthias Bél, András Vályi, Elek Fényes, János Hunfalvy), aus der Literatur (Ferenc Kazinczy) oder aus über Tata verfassten Werke. 232
