(Esztergom - 1594, Győr - 1594, Komárom 1594, Esztergom - 1595, Visegrád -1595, Tata - 1597, Vác - 1597, Győr 1598, Buda - 1598, Buda - 1603, Buda - 1603, Esztergom - 1604) The painting commemorate the son of Count Wolfgang: Georg Friedrich (15691645) who together with his two younger brother (Ludwig Caspar, 15781604 and Kraft 1582-1641) had taken part in the Hungarian battles. Georg Friedrich led thousand men heavy cavalry of the Frank district in 1595 and in 1597, and he led in 1598 and also in 1600 the heavy cavalry of thousand men which had been recruited by the help of imperial aid - into Hungary. The majority of Katzenberger's paintings based on the Siebmacher engravings of the Ortelius Chronicle, the detailed portrayal of clothing and the armament in the foreground of the paintings is an important source for the history of the age. Veronika Héri: Coins that had been Issued for the Victorious Battles of the Fifteen Years War Summary The 15 Years War was mostly successful for the Christian forces in the beginning. For the celebration of the victories great works of art had been created in the court of King and Emperor Rudolf. The sculptures and the paintings have announced the victory over Turks in manieristic style. The great advantage of the coin art that it had been possible to copy, and because of this it was spread more considerably compared to bigger sized works of art. It relative simplicity had made possible to issue coins in much larger quantity. The first successful phase of the war had three important event: the recapture of Esztergom in 1595, Győr 1598 and, Székesfehérvár in 1601. Each event had been commemorated with issuing a coin. Their artistic quality is varied. Good artisan works and artistic quality coins can also be found. They are using the well known symbols of the age: the God of rivers usually together with the head of the emperor. Novelty that in the case of Győr the master had pictured the general plan of the siege, when the castle of Győr had been modelled by Valentin Maler. 160
