A szakmai fejlődés biztosítéka a napi gyakorlaton felül a központi szervezésű, specializációt biztosító, szakirányú továbbképzés, amit azonban részint csak ritkán indít a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum, részint igen nagy anyagi terhet ró a küldő intézményre és hallgatóra egyaránt. A szakirodalom figyelemmel kísérése viszont csak az egyéni érdeklődés függvénye, évenként a restaurátor konferenciákon és más restaurátori összejöveteleken való részvétel biztosított. A társintézményeknél dolgozó kollégákkal tartott kapcsolatot és a tájékozódást újabban megkönnyíti a korlátlan munkahelyi Intranet és Internet-szolgáltatás is. A Török Ignác utcai új restaurátor műhely a megyei múzeumi szervezetben adódó műtárgyvédelmi feladatokat képes ellátni - az eddigieknél jelentősen jobb feltételek között. A VMMI többszázezres műtárgyállományára tekintettel regionális feladatokat esak restaurátor státusz-bővítéssel, megnövelt költségvetéssel tudnánk ellátni. A műtárgyak évenkénti gyarapodása is jelentős, a teljes állomány állapota gondozás nélkül romlik; igen sok régebben bekerült tárgy újrakezdést igényel. A jelenlegi szakemberlétszám és a még tovább fejlesztendő műhelyfelszerelés ezzel az adott, állandó közgyűjteményi kötelezettséggel arányos. Restoration of historical collection artefacts and documents at the new workshop in Veszprém Pál Koncz The new premises of the artefact conservation department of the VMMI, which consist of 26 rooms including 12 restoration workshops, have been functioning in the two storey building of a recently reconstructed ex-soviet military store since .lune 2005. The County Government, which maintains the institute, was the investor with 85 million Forints, from its own sources the VMMI also allotted 3.5 millions to internal equipment. Two workshops have been created for every type of material, enabling us to separate in space the phase of purification and chemical conservation from the process of complementary restoration requiring cleanliness. There is a special extractor fan and/or a chemical cabin operating in every room. The archeological store is going to be moved into the other part of the building, the upstairs shelves of which are another investment of 4.5 million Forints. While enumerating the typical objects of the collections belonging to the historical department (including art collections, data basis, photo collection and library) the article outlines working processes in the new workshops. Besides restoration systematic preventive conservation is also taking place: conditioning, acid-proof wrapping, cataloguing. Together with the 12 membered restoration team three assistants work in the stores. In the next few years the historical and ethnographical stores are going to be placed in the adjacent building now facing reconstruction. Following the questions of research concerning restoration and of training, the article argues for the emphatic duty of performing public collection tasks.
