From 1869 on a military battalion was working in Miskolc, which was drawn together with the battalions of Eger and Sátoraljaújhely in 1869. And so the 10 th infantry came into existence. Although there was also a body of troops - the 65 th collective infantry - in Miskolc, the inhabitants of the city always considered the "Tens" as their regiment. This regiment captured a huge quantity of war supplies at the Russian and Rumanian front between 1914 and 1916. The idea of establishing a war history museum in order to display the most interesting items of the last war to the public first occurred in 1916. In 1919 the travelling exhibition entitled "The Week of the 'fens" was organized from the collected items. During the Revolution of 1919 a great part of the collection was carried away, especially the working armament. In the first meeting of the regiment after the world-war, in 1922, the decision was made, that a 10 th regiment's orphanage and a permanent war history museum was to be built. This new museum was opened on May 5 th . 1929 in one of the rooms of the building in the Papszer Street, which belonged to "Borsod-Miskolcz Múzeum". Next to the collection captured during the war the museum also gave accommodation to the memorials from the Italian front. In fact every location of war during the period of the monarchy was shown in this way. In 1944 the museum was transferred to Eger because of the bombing. And from here the collection was taken to the War History Museum in Budapest. Today the written documentation of the former 10 th infantry museum can be found in the Herman Ottó Museum. A lot of diaries, aimy journals and photo albums enrich the museum's data bank of local histoiy .
