Although it falls on „this side” of the chronological border drawn by archeology, there are also people who deal with materials of the not too bygone past (even using „classic” archeologist methods). Among these are the military grave caretakers and the archeologists working with them on the field. The way they excavate, document and hand over artefacts to restorers is similar to that of archeologists. Among these findings everything can be found from weapons to cutlery, from buttons suitable for identification of affiliation to belt buckles and from bottles of rubbing alcohol through miniature Bibles to letters. The article examines the (possible) destiny of paper-based findings that turned up during the exhumation of Hungarian soldiers at the Don River. 207
