Collections of archaeological data in the sand mine of Surjány (Törökszentmiklós) between 2011 and 2017. Findings from the New Stone Age and early Migration Period

In this compilation I report on the post-excavation works, which took place following the rescue excavation of 2010 between 2011 and the spring of 2017 in the sand mine of Surjány, located north-east from Törökszentmiklós. The large clay and sand mine is found in the southeastern corner of the Tisza’s drainage basin called Morostó/Marostó or Dűlő-lapos, positioned deeply on its bank about 87 meters above sea level. The revisiting of the site was by all means necessary and justified, since during the excavations, interesting Gepidian relics turned up from the early Migration Period. (First half of the 5th century BC and later, middle third of the 6th century BC). Moreover, the data collection took place where a colleague working with a metal detector had found a Germanic fibula (brooch).
