ÁDÁM MÁRK: A SZOLNOKI VÁR SZÓRVÁNY KÁLYHASZEMANYAGÁNAK VIZSGÁLATA Márk Ádám The study of a sporadic stove tile from the castle of Szolnok The study of stove tiles that have reached the storehouse of the Damjanich János Museum over the past fifty years provides some useful data. It is important to emphasize that the objects examined do not originate from archaeological excavations but most of them have found their way to the repository through purchase. The local and national excavation of castles, the study of villages near Szolnok and the objects collected through site surveys all help evaluate the findings. By studying these parallel phenomena, one can have a clear overview of the characteristic types of the 16th-17th century heating equipment through the findings from the castle. Through careful categorization of the tiles, one may try to differentiate the types of stoves made by the local potters and by the population deployed in the castle during the Turkish rule from the Balkans. So one can retrace what a tile stove adorned with typically local rosette corner elements in the 16-17th century castle might have looked like. These types could have stayed in use during the entire Turkish rule, and were possibly made by potters living in the area. Their disappearance must have taken place during the age of the 15-year war, when vast areas of the Lowlands were emptied due the continuous fighting. One cannot establish an exact chronological order of the types of stoves in the castle after processing this sporadic material. We can only answer this question after studying the findings and layers unearthed during the 2018 excavation. 241 Г
