Neolithic women’s history - biosocial archaeology in Polgár

The article examines the female burials from two sites around Polgár, the Middle Neolithic Ferenci-hát, and the Late Neolithic Csőszhalom. It attempts to draw up a feasible Neolithic women’s history based on the connecting data from the skeletons (sex and age, height, traces of muscle alteration, pathological altelerations, stable isotope, DNA analysis),

artefacts in the graves (costumes and grave goods), and the known elements of rite, using the methodology of gender and biosocial archaeology. Even though the data is fragmented and insufficient in many cases, it is still worthwhile to gather and have a look at these sources and see what can be found out from the information.
