Supplements to a taciturn biography - from the written bequest of painter Lajos Zombory

This paper attempts to treat the main events of painter Lajos Zombory’s life based upon the documents of his bequest. Opposed to the terse biography that contains very few details, this study provides an insight into the determining moments of Zombory’s career. It discusses the events in chronological order from his education, a detailed biography representing his artistic development and his most important teachers. It sheds light on Zombory’s strenuous life and the characteristic features of his personality that determined his art.
