Néprajz - Fazekas Mihály: A lótartás és hasznosítás a Nagykunságban a XIX–XX. században
Néprajz Mihály Fazekas Horse-farming in the Nagykunság region in the 19th and 20th century It is a well-known fact that the Nagykunság region is one the most eminent areas of animal farming. Because of the importance of cattle, their economic role, their function of bridging gaps between different regions, researchers have paid less attention to stud farming than necessary. Based upon his own research, the author of this paper attempts to draw a picture of the various forms of horse farming in Karcag, its practice in a rural environment, and drawing a parallel with the historical events of the 20th century, examines the impact of the events that led to the disappearance of stud farming. Due to the recollections of his interviewees, in some instances he can go back to ages even prior to the 20th century. The very richness of vocabulary used to describe the various features of horses signals the economic importance of horse farming. 401
