NÓGRÁDI S. - UHERKOVICH A.: Trichopterological results from the Northern Mountains (Hungary)
Trichopterological results from the Northern Mountains (Hungary) NÓGRÁDI U. Sára — UHERKOVICH Ákos Pécs, Janus Pannonius Museum ABSCTRACT. 3299 males and 4976 females, altogether 8275 specimens of 102 species were collected personally and by light traps in 50 localities. The list of all the species is given with the localities, date and the number of specimens. Some remarks are appended to rare or sporadic species. INTRODUCTION , The first Trichoptera data of Northern Mountains C Északi Középhegység} were published in the Fauna Regni Hungáriáé CmOCSÁRY 1900). Only a few species were recorded from some localities. Tn the thirties J. Sátori collected larvae, pupae and imagos. He published his data in a number of papers containing several mistakes in determination C SÁTORI 1935, 1938). In another paper some of his erroneous data were annulled C SÁTORI 1940). After Sátori' s activity some 25 years passed. In the 1960s J. Oláh examined the Trichoptera fauna of the Zemplén Mountains and published his results COLAH 1964, 1967) in two papers. In the 1970s two papers were published by ÚJHELYI Cl971, 1974). Later he presented some further data in three other papers (Újhelyi 1981a, 1982, 1985). 0. Kiss publishes several papers on the fauna of the Bükk and Mátra Mountains mostly in the 1980s (KISS 1979, 1980, 1981a, 1981b, 1983, 1984, 1987). Many data were published by C HANTARAMON G-K0L Cl.983) from the foot of, the Börzsöny Mountains. TÓTH 11973 3 enumerated a few caddisfly species in one paper. PURPOSE, METHODS, MATERIAL Since the check-list of the Hungarian Trichoptera has not been compiled yet, our main purpose is to do it within a few years. Therefore, we endeavour to get materials from all regions of Hungary. Simultaneously we review the literature and the collections containing data of the regions. As it is seen, most of the trichopterological papers of Hungary refers to the caddisflies of the Northern Mountains. Some of these papers include erroneous data, e. g. Anabolia laevis ZETT., Glossosoma boltoni CURT., Limnephi lus subcent rali s BRAU., Hydropsyche exocellata DUF. , Rhyacophila torrentium PICT, etc. The revision of the material is under way but many difficulties have already arisen. The pinned collection of the Mátra Museum C Gyöngyös) was re-determined: more than half of material had been misidentified . We have started to redetermine the rather large material preserved in alcohol . Several mistakes have been found here, too. After the re-determination we must also revise the literature data. This is a long and ticklish work. After it we can compile a list of the Trichoptera fauna of the Northern Mountains. In the 1980s we have led a few collecting trips to the area. We could collect in the Mátra and Bükk Mountains and in the Karst Region of North Borsod. The material of 10 light traps was also elaborated. These traps belonged to the light-trap network of the plant protection CCounty Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplér 1 ) or some of them were the traps of the Mátra Museum (Gyöngyös), erected to serve faunistical examinations. Many colleagues and friends collected caddisflies and passed them to us for publication. We élabore all this material. 3299 males and 4976 females of 102 species were found in 50 sites.
