The present paper contains the results of a year ь production estimation carried out in the low shrub layer of the ecosystem of the Síkfőkút („Síkfőkút Project") turkey oak (Querceturn petraeae-cerris) forest having been the subject of a complex biosphere research since 1972. We estimated a year's production of most significant 10 low shrub layer species in 1979. The otner 6 species are discussed under the title „other". One year's organic material growth of the above-grund components (foliage, a year old twig, branch + + stem = branch) is included in the estimation. The production of the shrubs was measured by the average shrub metod based on the measurement data of 10 sample shrub each with average dimension per species (Table 1), and counted according to species.
