Szeniczey Tamás Anthropological examination of the human remains of avar period found in Kál-Csörszkavics-bánya site ] Human remains found in Kál-Csörszkavics-bánya site from three graves (grave no. 1, 11,21) and from one unidentified grave were investigated in this recent study. The four persons were males, but due to the lack of anthropological material of another graves found in the site and the small number of cases, it is not possible to give demographic conclusion based on this result. The estimated stature of the examined individuals did not differ from the average Avar Period male's estimated stature. The observed paleopathological alterations correspond to the sex and age of the individuals. Based on the results of the taxonomical analysis, the individuals showed mixed europo-mongoloid features. Compared to the published contemporary regional anthropological data, the presence of the mongoloid characters fits to the known regional taxonomical image. 250
