Bereczki Ibolya: Játékgyűjtemény a Néprajzi Látványtárban - A Skanzen Hetedhét Játék Éve

Ibolya Bereczki Toy Collection in the Ethnographical Study Collection - Hetedhét Games Year of the Skanzen The thematic season titled Hetedhét Games Year of the Open Air Museum was implemented in 2008, within the Renaissance Year, supported by the Ministry of Culture. Among the various program elements museum exhibits, enterieurs, themed, game-related reaarrangement, periodical exhibitions, children's spaces in buildings, outdoor playing venues, festivals and weekend programs were included. The "hetedhét game" started at the entrance to the museum as those who rolled three sixes with dice could enter for free. Museum exhibitions, in some of which game related surroundings were formed, played an important role in rearranging the museum for one year. A special exhibition was the Toy Storage, with the Ethnographical Study Collection serving as its venue. The goal was to dislodge old toys in exile in attics, trunks, bottom of drawers, or even on museum stores’ shelves and direct the attention to them. By recalling the toy world of the recent past we wanted to give experience for young and middle-aged visitors as well. The objects of the Toy Storage were selected from our own collection, Mariann Karlóczai’s extremely rich collection of toys, items borrowed from colleagues and pieces from Gábomé Komlósi’s doll collection. Doll houses, having been well preserved in the Hayden family for three generations, got in the Toy Storage by means of donation and along with the museum’s own objects they stayed in the Ethnographical Study Collection after 2008 as well, much to the delight of our visitors. 131
