Kovács László Erik: A Lourdes-i Mária szobor Filkeházán

Erik László Kovács The Our Lady of Lourdes Statue in Filkeháza The Zemplén Hegyköz is rich in wayside crosses and other similar outdoor religious monuments. It was an area of study that was started from the Department of Ethnography at the University of Debrecen by Elek Bartha and Tivadar Petercsák. By erecting and maintaining roadside crosses the Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic populations of the Hegyköz gave sites that formed a constituent part of their everyday lives a symbolic significance. In this respect the figure of Our Lady of Lourdes in Filkeháza was an addition to this roster of sacred sites. The religious community which shows an affinity for the cave in Lourdes have, with their regular meetings in the years since the political changes, added to the Filkeháza's spiritual life. This study presents the statue of the Our Lady of Lourdes and the local oral traditions relating to it. 261
