Palmer Matthew: Alexandriai Szent Katalin szobrának új datálása
disappointed, for although the female saint figures in the Buda programme are of a comparable size, there is little apart from perceived similarities in passages of drapery to suggest common authorship. 24 Indeed, whereas the Eger is wearing contemporary dress, the female figures at Buda, as Eva Kovács has noted, display a "conspicuous lack of contemporary fashion". 25 None of the other female figures of a similar size to the Eger St Catherine featured at the 2006 Sigismund exhibition offer many grounds for comparison for the same reason. 26 Instead, it is a figure of a kneeling donor figure (Sopron, Benedictine Church) displayed at the Sigismund exhibition, and the similarity of the contemporary clothes he wears with those worn by the figure of Maxentius, which opens a potentially more rewarding avenue of investigation. 27 The Sopron figure, dated to Plate 4. The jewellery worn by the male figures, however, is carved in great detail. 26 For example: the figure of St Helen (Bratislava, Slovenská národná galéria), the headless female figure (Sibiu, Muzeul National Brukenthal, M 5977) and figure of the Virgin Mary from an Annunciation scene (Frankfurt am Main, Städtische Galerie Galerie Liebighaus - Museum alter Plastik, St.P.394) attributed to the Großlobming Master. 27 BARTOS György in TAKÁCS Imre (ed.) 2006. 561.
