Füvessy Anikó: Átmentett hagyomány a Közép-Tiszavidék népi iparművészetében

Anikó Füvessy Preserved Tradition in the Arts and Crafts of the Central Tisza Region In 1927 István Győrffy drew Karcag potter Sándor Kántor's attention to the beauty of the dying art of the Tiszafüred potters. In doing so he took the first steps in the direction of the development of the folk arts and crafts. It was due to Győrffy that the flock embroidery and the embroidery found on the long traditional shepherd coats characteristic of the Kunság as well as the fur embroidery of the Kunság and Jászság came to the attention of embroidery teachers. It was through the cottage industry association and the Kántor workshop that Karcag became a centre of the folk arts and crafts, bringing new life to the traditions of Kun embroidery, lacemaking and pottery. This paper also gives an insight into the forms and motifs in the folk arts and crafts in Turkeve, the Tiszazug Region, Mezőtúr, Törökszentmiklós and the Jászság. The most valuable arts and crafts artefacts were made by the region's potters and embroiderers. While the works are characterised by a respect for local traditions they are also open to the influences of other centres and styles. The more recent generations of folk artists and craftsmen now go about their training in a deliberate manner, frequently creating their own personal styles by adopting the traditions of other regions. 413
