Hungary. In the late spring of 1940 the palace had started to be cleared of refugees and by that summer the camp had ceased to exist. A fate of the Polish Refugee Camp in Gyöngyös would not be complete if one were not to mention those, although ever declining in number, who stayed in Gyöngyös after the camp closed its gates. The refugees lived in private dwellings, although some lived in unused tourist facilities in the Mátra. After the war 4-6 decided to settle in Gyöngyös. They decided to make the town their own and have subsequently become a part of the town's social fabric. 390
