Csiffáry Gergely: Az „Egri dohánygyár története” kiállítás megrendezéséről
Gergely Csiffáry ORGANISATION OF THE EXHIBITION „THE HISTORY OF THE EGER TOBACCO FACTORY" In order to exhibit the industrial development of our country, the collecting of material in the County of Heves is an important task. This material is an inseparable part of the local historic collection. It is extremely desirable to gather all relics, which can be found in the case of such an establishment, which played an important part and had great influence in forming the economic and social life of the town. Such factory is the Tobacco Factory of Eger, which is one of the most ancient establishments, with the most of traditions. In October of the Year 1972 a contract of socialist cooperation has been concluded between the Dobó István Fortress Museum and the Eger Tobacco Factory, in the sphere of which we arranged our exhibition with the title „The History of the Eger Tobacco Factory". First we had gathered the material for our exhibition. Trying to save the relics of the past — with laying particular stress on objects suitable for an illustration regarding the history of cigar producing — we aimed to demonstrate the present stage of development too. The former Cigar Factory was tremendously developed. This was based on a high technical development, be it the level of its products and their multicolour, be it in the large quantity of production. Presently the Eger Tobacco Factory is the most developed unit of the Hungarian tobacco industry. It turns out the most kinds of products and as to the filtre cigarettes, the produced quantity here, ist the largest in our country. The collecting of material connected with the history was not finished with the organisation in common of the exhibition. Complementary collection is justified also by the fact, that we are planning to make a permanent exhibiton — within the sphe re of this socialist contract — demonstrating the history of the Tobacco Factory 22* 339
