Botos Judith 2012 Az Egri Líceum újjászületése - az építész szemével. http://epiteszforum.hu/az-egri-liceum-ujjaszuletese-az-epitesz-szemevel [Utolsó letöltés 2015. szeptember 15.] JUDITH BOTOS - ZOLTÁN HAUSER DOMUS UNIVERSITATIS - THE EGER LYCEUM THE BAROQUE BUILDING IN THE 21ST CENTURY SOME THOUGHTS ON THE RENOVATION OF THE LYCEUM It was in the hope of renovating and updating Károly Eszterházy College that the institution tendered a successful application entitled “Supporting the infrastructural and IT development necessary for an improvement in the standards of higher educational activities” project within the framework of the TIOP 1.3.1 programme which was also part of the “Lyceum for Natural Sciences” development plan. With a budget of 5.3 billion forints, 300 million forints of which had to be raised by the college, 3 billion forints were allocated to the revitalization, in its classical sense, of the building. The rest of the money won in the application was used exclusively for the acquisition of 3000 square metres made possible by the functional reorganization of what was already there plus the creation of new spaces. When doing this we had to take into consideration the fact that the Lyceum enjoyed protected status, being considered not only a superb baroque building, but also the first building in the Kingdom of Hungary to have been purpose-built as an institution of further education, and therefore utterly unique. At the same time it was important that the reconstruction should be more than a straightforward exercise in building restoration, and a development which met the needs of a contemporary further education, whilst making all the necessary changes. With the completion of the programme we were left with an infrastructure which met 21 st century expectation levels, with a complete technological update. All this has further improved Eszterházy College’s ability to meet those expectations in the fields of education, research and innovation necessary to enable the institution to make the transition into becoming the University of Eger. 129
