KA LAC S KA RÓBERT- KO VATS ISTVÁN been destroyed in the second halt or at the end of the 17th century. There was no evidence of any late medieval building activity (stone buildings or wall fragments). Indeed, with the exception of a few scattered ceramic fragments there were no finds that could be dated to the 14lh or 15th centuries. This means that the perceived presence of a street cannot be proved. Thus far it is the Árpád-period ceramic finds found at a relative deep level (on average 2.50-2.70 metres deep) that are the only evidence of previous settlement, although they cannot be tied to any particular object. As the research took place within a rather tight temporal and spatial framework, and for the most part in soil that had been disturbed, it is only when a comprehensive excavation has taken place that we can make a final conclusion as to the original layout of the garden ot the archepiscopal palace.
