BAGI ZOLTÁN: A birodalmi kerületek és a 15 éves hábor
Zoltán Bagi IMPERIAL DISTRICTS AND THE FIFTEEN YEARS WAR The role imperial districts played during the Fifteen Years War is little known to Hungarian historians, despite the fact that of the administrative areas brought into existence by Emperor Maximilian I it was the eastern districts that participated the most, both militarily and financially, during the hostilities between the Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy. In the interests of raising ever greater amounts of aid the court envoys reverted to practices at the meetings of the district estates similar to those used at the imperial diets. Although this particular study is based primarily on those discussions that went on within the Frankish district during 1594 and 1595, it should be considered the first stage in what will be a considerably more substantial research undertaking. 259
