16th-17th Century Metal Finds at the István Dobó Castle Museum

The first half of the paper deals with the nature of the historical evidence. Although the archaeological material we have at our disposal from the 16th and 17th centuries is far from complete we do have access to the contents of various collections assembled by the high nobility. We also have written sources from the period in question telling us how the weapons were used. The second half of the paper deals with bows, sabres and axes and their efficiency in the tests to which they were subjected.
