Lengyel László (szerk.): Devóció és dekoráció - 18. és 19. századi korolstormunkák Magyarországon - Studia Agriensia 7. (Eger, 1987)

Summary

The organisers of this exhibition gave an overall picture about an era from a cultural historical viewpoint which we can accept as a homogenous one, therefore their show can reveal an incredibly colourful and changing world, the many coloured and attractive procession of genres, materials, techniques and expressive forms. I left until the end to mention that the Museums of Eger and Miskolc were among the first in Hungary to undertake the gathering of the harvest which grows on noman’s land, between art history and ethnography, on the boundary of art and industry and also to show to both specialists and lay people a once important piece of Hungarian cultural history which until now has not been attended to. The exhibition which was first shown in Eger Castle received a good response from both lay spectators and specialists. And now as I am opening the show I ask you to respond to it well, too.
