Gucsi László: A bronzkori speciális házikerámiák használatának kérdése

198 LÁSZLÓ GUCSI GUCSI LÁSZLÓ THE QUESTION OF THE USE OF SPECIAL DOMESTIC POTTERY IN THE BRONZE AGE Portable caldron stoves can be identified to have existed in almost every culture of the Late Bronze Age in the Carpathian Basin. However, the chronological frame of their use, the extent of their dissemination, and their relationship to specific cultural media or lifestyles have not been clarified to this very day. Thus, the following questions might be asked: irrespective of the fact that, from time to time, their shape went through different phases of renewal, to what extent can caldron stoves be considered basically useful and general commodities and, as a consequence, how does the information value inherent in them get revised concerning the late Bronze Age in the Carpathian Basin? Due to the specific function of this type of object, a number of further questions arise as regards the material of the caldrons (e.g. what could be the material used for thinning the clay which then was exposed to considerable heat), the steps or phases of their preparation, and the ways in which they were used. An attempt to investigate all these queries and to revive the bygone preparation processes is undertaken by an actual potter, who is also well-versed in experimental archeology.
