Pozsonyi József: Az eörményesi és karánsebesi Fiáth család története - Régi magyar családok 12. (Budapest, 2024)
Summary
Among the members of the Fiáth family, there have been people of high rank or office since the early 14th century. In the 19th and 20th centuries, several county governors came from the family. The present volume provides a broad overview of the family history based on a fragment of the available sources; however, it aims to give a detailed description of the most prominent family members and a thorough overview of the major family events from the beginnings to the present day. In addition to various literary and artistic works, the memory of the ‘heroes’ of the family is preserved and passed down to posterity by the institutions named after them, for example, the János Fiáth Community Centre and Library in Töltéstava, which is located near Győr, the János Fiáth Street, which runs from Hunfalvy to Hattyú Street in the first district of Budapest, and several commemorative plaques across the country. The Fiáth cemetery in Aka, where two Fiáth heroes of the First World War are buried, was added to the list of the cultural heritage of Komárom-Esztergom County in 2022. Most of the photographs used to illustrate this book were selected from the Fiáth family’s photo albums. The majority of these had been preserved for her family and posterity by Baron Géza Fiáth’s wife, née Mária Henriette Serényi (Aunt Móki, t 21 April 2011). The printing costs of the book were donated by Miklos Fiáth and his family. 159
