Dankó Imre: The 1300 year old Bulgaria – Preface and summary

artists, men of public life and formed a connection with scientists of other nations dealing with Bulgarian themes, e. g. Vaclav Frolec. With grateful respect I commemorate professor Christo Vakarelski who helped me to answer some questions and made my gathering information easier. I am so sorry that he could not see his bibliography compiled by Nikolaj Kolev because of his death on 19 November 1979. We are going to organize a scientific session in honour of his. I also have to remember the assistant professor, Ljubomir Dukov who was the scientist of the Ethnographical Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences It was he who also helped me in my researches. I dealt with my main topics in Bulgaria, too. I gathered information on peasant architecture, origin of Hajdus and their ethnical problems, the questions of transport and exchange of goods. I am happy that my works inspired Bulgarian scientists; e. g. a study on exchange of goods and popular architecture written by Nikolaj Kolev can be found in this volume. I ask you to receive this volume with as so great pleasure as we made it. Please, don't look at its insufficiency first, but in spite of our modest possibilities, the appreciable results by this small circle. These results also contribute to the strengthening connection between the two nations.
