The Role of János Sőregi in Bringing the Déri Collection to Debrecen János Sőregi played a crucial role in bringing the Déri collection to Debrecen. As a museum expert he made a major contribution to the precise appraisal of the bequest and the compilation of appropriate records. He also gained invaluable experience during the work that he could benefit from in the future as he was engaged in important tasks related to the establishment of the Déri Museum: he actively participated in the professional work and organization activities as well as in creating the permanent exhibitions. As a director and as a crowning achievement of his museum career, he wrote his Guide presenting the holdings of the Déri Museum, which provides invaluable information about the collection of Frigyes Déri to this day. 121
