Irodalomtörténet - Bakó Endre: Kassák Lajos és Debrecen
KASSÁK LAJOS ÉS DEBRECEN 109 Új írók [New writers], Géza Juhász and László Kardos, the heads of the society, followed Kassák's literary career from 1928, reviewing almost all of his volumes. They considered his biographical novel (Egy ember élete [A man's life]) an outstanding work of Hungarian literature. After 1948 Kassák was excluded from literary life for more than a decade and thus even the Alföld journal of Debrecen published his works only after 1960. At first, he was only cautiously brought back to literary consciousness, then from about 1965 he was assessed and treated in a way worthy of his genius. It could even be said that from 1970 the journal expressed moderate praise of Kassák, the torch bearer being one of the editors of the journal, Géza Aczél, who later became Kassák's monographer. The second part of the paper presents these pieces of criticism.
