Természettudomány - Juhász Lajos: Odúlakó madárfajok állományának változása egy dél-nyírségi keményfa ligeterdőben
Lajos Juhász CHANGES IN THE POPULATION OF DENDROCOL BIRD-SPECIES IN A HARD-WOOD FOREST IN SOUTH-NYÍRSÉG The subsistence of the complexes of coenoses of dendrocol birds (these coenoses being rich in species), in the hard-wood forests of South-Nyírség can be proved. These areas are practically the only habitats of the populations of some species (Picus canus, Dendrocopus medius, Dryocopus martius). Pied Flycather (Fycedula hypoleuca) has appeared as a new species in the artificial nest-hollows; this is unique in the aria, and, at the same time, it is new data in the Hungarian ornithological literature with regard to this region. Close-to-nature hard-wood forests, of variable extension, on the basis of their geographical situation and their ecological (habitat-) characteristics, function as natural "free roads" during the migration of singing-birds of small stature. This fact can be proved by re-cathing data. We caught several birds which had been marked at the same place and in the same period of the previous year(s). These forest areas, as important bases of food of their flyways, has been genetically coded in the migrating birds. The variably-sized pieces of the relict hard-wood forests are still the areas of the older fauna and flora refuges nowadays, and their function is very significant from the viewpoint of the natural new supplies of the spec/es-especially, in terms of ornithology. That is why it is justified to assure their protection and undisturbed condition, since these forest coenoses are practically the sole refuges of those elements of the natural living world which are relict, unique and unusual in this region! 54
