ч, Places oí Litarary Significance in Debrecen V. Julow The literary past of Debrecen is the richest among the Hungarian provincial towns. A great number of Hungarian writers had connections with this town in some way or other, consequently it abounds in buildings and sites of literary significance. The author of this paper registers 102 of such memorial places. The most important Of them are the following: Buildings: The Protestant College where a great number of Hungarian writers taught or studied; the lodging of F. Kölcsey, poet and orator, in 1801—1809 (Füvészkert u. 5.); of Alexander Petőfi in 1848—1849 (Batthyány u. 16.); Of M. Vörösmarthy, poet, in 1849 (Csapó u. 16.); of E. Ady, poet, in 1897 (Darabos u. 33.); of Móricz Zs. novelist, in 1899 (Hüvelyes u. 7) and in 1900 (Kígyó u. 43); the house of birth and life-long dwelling-place of G. Oláh (Kar u. 29.) and of P. Gulyás (Hajó u. 8.), 20 th century poets; living quarters of Lőrinc Szabó, poet, in 1916—1918. (Veres u. 22.) Sites (instances in which the original building had been demolished): poet M. Csokonai Vitéz's birthplace (Hatvan u. 23.) and dweJIing-place in 1800—1805 (Darabos u. 19.); the residence of M. Fazekas, poet and scientist, in 1796—1828 (Vöröshadsereg útja 58); the lodging of Alexander Petőfi in 1843—1844 (Petőfi tér 3.); a one-time temporary theatre where young Petőfi and J. Arany played as actors (Batthyány u. 17.); the lodgings of M. Jókai, novelist, in 1849 (Csapó u. 8.); the family house of Á. Tóth, 20 th century poet (Késes u. 32.) Tombs: M.
