ARRABONA 2012. 50/2. KÖZLEMÉNYEK GERARD SAGRED О AS A CARMELITE MONK. THE ICONOGRAPHY OF A PECULIAR PAINTING FROM GYŐR The study analyses the iconography of Gerard Sagredo through an oilpainting rediscovered in 2009 by the author. The painting is in the collection of the museum of Győr. The unknown master of the painting from the early 18th century painted a Carmelite saint holding the Holy Crown of St. Stephen in his hand (Fig. 1.) and the author identifies the figure of the monk with Gerard Sagredo. Graphics of the same age give evidence of the rich iconographical tradition of the representation of Gerard Sagredo, from which the study presents two engravings of Johann Andreas Pfeffel (1674-1748) from Augsburg (Fig 2-3.). The statue of Gerard Sagredo in Budapest by Gyula Jankovits (1865-1932) is also analysed in the paper. Zoltán Szilárdfy
