DOMINKOVITS PÉTER FEJEDELMI FOGYASZTÁS ... PRINCELY CONSUMPTION FERDINAND I AT THE DIET SESSION OF 1553 IN SOPRON AS REFLECTED BY THE BOOK OF ACCOUNTS OF THE TOWN In addition to the widely published Diet sessions of Sopron in the 17th century the town hosted a Diet session already in the 16th century. Due to the plague in the spring of 1553 King Ferdinand I convened the Diet session to Sopron, where he personally appeared together with his two sons: Archdukes Maximilian and Charles on 22 April. This source publication aims at shedding some light to this hardly studied Diet session from a special point of view. In the Book of Accounts of the Fiscal Office of Sopron Town the list of wines that the town provided for the king and the two archdukes was registered. The special feature of this source is that it indicates even the place of origin of the different wines. Most of the wine amounting to 139 У2 bucket of Sopron came from the vineyards of the religious and craftsmen’s guilds of the town. This source publication emphasises the need of studying the intertwining aspects of the national and local events from the one as well as this “forgotten” Diet session from the other hand.
