Manor of the Zirc Abbey in Előszállás Part 4 (1938-1945)

Gábor Farkas wrote a voluminous four-part study on the manor of the Zirc Abbey in Előszállás. The first part was published in 2014, before the author’s death, in Issue No. 42 of the Alba Regia almanac. Gábor Farkas died suddenly on 28 February 2015, at the age of 84. Last year, the third part of his study, which presents the period between 1896 and 1938, was published in Issue No. 44 of the almanac.

This year we intend to publish the fourth — and final — part discussing the period between 1938 and 1945. In this part, after describing in detail wartime farming practices, the author gives an account of the impacts of war and the loss of the manor. The study concludes with a daily presentation of the period of Russian occupation.
