the external sutural obliteration was taken into consideration as well, then using the tables in Sjovold.7 8 Determination of sex was based on Éry—Kralovánszky—Nemeskéri.9 Measurements were carried out according to Martin—Sailer,10 to evaluate the cranial measurements the classification of Alekszejev—Debec11 was used. Estimating the stature was carried out using Sjovoid tables12 for both sexes and all races, the resulting data were categorized according to Martin- Sailer.13 I used the method reviewed in Éry 1998,14 using the measure of humerus, radius, femur and tibia by eliminating those of ulna and fibula. By this way the stature data publicated in Éry 1998 can be compared with recent data. Results Distribution of age and sex The basic individual data can be found in Table 1, the distribution of age and sex in Table 2. From the 22 individuals the number of non-adults is 2 (9,09%), that of adults is 18 (81,82%), 2 fragmented skeletons are undeterminable (9,09 %) but their age can be estimated above 15 years. From the 18 adults there are 8 males (44,44 %), 9 females (50,00 %) and 1 undeterminable (5,56 %). The very low proportion of non-adults shows as well that the site is just partially excavated. Metrical data Metrical data are given in Table 3. The skulls — especially their facial part — are generally fragmented and post mortem distorted. Therefore few cranial measurements could be taken. The measures and indices show large deviation. According to the absolute measures there are short, medium long and long skulls; according to the indices there are brachykran, mesokran and dolichokran skulls as well in this small sample. The fragmented skulls are not fit for detailed taxonomic analysis. Europid traits could be observed. The skeletons are incomplete and badly preserved as well. Measurements of long bones could be taken altogether by 4 male and 5 female skeletons. The estimated stature data seem to tend to tall both by the males and females. All the 4 males are tall, while the individual stature data of females fall under medium or tall categories. The badly preserved anthropological remains are not fit for detailed metrical analysis. Pathological deformities Grave 8: 37-46 years old female. Periostitis on the lower third of the right ulna. Grave 10: 30—60 years old male. Degenerativ arthrosis. Two thoracic vertebrae (from the medial thoracic region) became a bony connection by the small articular facets. On the other, mainly fragmented vertebrae could be detected osseous outgrowths and eburneatio on the small articular facets and other joints of the skeleton also show degenerative deformities. Grave 12: 54—60 years old female. Porotic hyperostosis in the parietal region. Degenerativ arthrosis. General degenerative sclerotic changes could be observed on the whole skeleton. There are marginal osteophytes on vertebrae, primarily on their corpora; in the lumbar region on the articular processes. There is an osseous outgrowth on the basis of the sacrum. On the auricular surfaces of the hip-bones sclerotic depositions, on 7 NEMESKÉRI-HARSÁNYI-ACSÁDI 1960,103-115. 8 SJ0VOLD 1975, 9-22. 9 ERY-KRALOVÁNSZKY-NEMESKÉRI 1963,41-90. 10 MARTIN-SALLER 1957. 11 ALEKSZEJEV-DEBEC 1964.
