If the existence of this fourt arch on the plan cannot be definitely demonstrated on a morphological basis one may conclude that the plan of the building was similar to those of late Roman, ancient Christian sepulchral chapels which are known from Sopianae (Fülep 1959, 399) and Aquincum (Nagy 1973, 153). The structure and dating of the building may thus be parallel with those examples as well. In terms of topography and orientation the cella trichora from Sopianae may provide a better parallel. This latter is located in front of the western facade of the Medieval cathedral and oriented in a north to south direction. The other parallel from Aquincum was built in a southwest to northeast direction which differs from the orientation of the Székesfehérvár building. However, in Sopianae the construction is different (counterforts on the northern side), and a separate building is attached to the southeastern side in Aquincum. Additionally in both cases, Roman sepulchral chapels were in the immediate neighborhood of these buildings. These facts suggest that the above mentioned examples should be rejected as parallels verifying the lack of the southern arch on the plan of the Fehérvár building.
