The photo was made in 1934. Cast a glance at the frontispiece of the mu­seum as it looked in those ti­mes, and at the next house deco­rated today with a floral crest (cf. Figs. Ill and 113.). 110. Inauguration of the National Banner; the speaker: Mayor Csi­táry. In the background: the Karl Distillery is still standing in the old Kigyó Street, but the construction of the houses of today's Gagarin Square has al­ready begun (cf. next Fig.) 111. The National Banner was inau­gurated in 1936 on the newly shaped square. The picture cle­arly shows the house at the end of Bástya Street, which has been destroyed during the war. 112. For building purposes of the new Square of the National Ban­ner Géza Grünfeld has ceded a gratis groundplot; on his remai­ning area he built three tene­ment houses, one of which was exempt from taxation in return for the gratis plot.
