Here a sufficient number of day-labourers could always be hired from the neighbouring regions. This type of forestry, plant production and stock-breeding, details of which are unfortunately not known to us, was rather one-sided. It was, however, complemented with grape-growing on 50 and fruit-growing on 45 ‘cadastral holds’ as well as with the breeding of trouts.53 There were industrial zones on these holdings and the Count had in­vestments in mining companies54 but for now we only know about their existence, not about their nature and profits.
