444 RESUME > Thamar (cat. 22); At Breakfast (cat. 63); "My Love is Angry With Me Now" (cat. 128) 1903-1910, Paris He marries Júlia Nagy. His rented villa/studio, located near the Lux­embourg Gardens in rue d'Assas, overlooks the garden of convent of Notre Dame des Champs. Frequent visitors of the Thursday tea parties, given by the Csók couple, are the artists Ödön Márffy, Bertalan Pór, Andor Székely, Kornél Hernády, the composer, Rezső Lavotta and the art historian, Lajos Fülep. 1903 His wife's full-length portrait (MNG) and his self-portrait are com­pleted (MNG). His folk genre-pictures, painted in Őcsény and Pécs- Jakabhegy (Gypsies Making Trough, location unknown, XIV.4), are shown at the winter exhibition of the Art Gallery. The Forbidden Fruit is purchased for the collection of the Royal Palace of Buda (lo­cation unknown). 1904 The Fioney Eaters (IV.12), which is displayed at the spring exhibition of the Society of Fine Arts, is published by Singer and Wolfner. Lajos Ernst becomes the president of the National Salon; Csók is elected to be the vice-president. He paints many pictures of folk genre in Őcsény and Mohács in the summer and early autumn. Lajos Fülep praises the RestingSocac, which was exhibited in the Art Gallery in the winter. > Vampires, study (cat. 27) 1905 His main piece in Paris, Corner of the Atelier (cat. 3), is finished at the beginning of the year. It is exhibited in the Paris Salon in spring and displayed by the Society of Fine Arts at the end of the year. The picture receives the Casino of Lipótváros Prize in Hungary, and is purchased by the state. He spends his summer painting in Mo­hács, Darázs and Nagybodolya. His first solo exhibition of his 32 pieces opens in the Salon of the Kálmán Könyves Pic. in Nagymező Street on October 25th. The exhibition is opened by György Lukács and in addition to his fellow artists, many others appear at the vernissage: Viktor Molnár, cultural under-secretary of the state, Elek K. Lippich, Béla Rajner, Béla Horthy, István Bárczy, Arnold Löwen­stein, director of Pallas Art Publisher Company, and Mór Révai as well. The majority of the works exhibited are his new genre pic­tures from the Sárköz and about the Socac people. All influential media give an account of the event. > Thamar, study (cat. 18); Ploughing (Allegory of Spring, cat. 29); Socac Girl at the Danube (cat. 49); FI is Wife's Portrait in Blue Dress (cat. 59); H/s Wife's Portrait (cat. 60); Sewing Woman (cat. 64) 1906 Thamar is displayed in the Paris Salon. His genre pictures appear mainly at exhibitions in Hungary. He spends the summer painting in Balatonaliga. > Parisian Woman (cat. 61 ); In the Paris Salon (cat. 62) 1907 Vampires (location unknown, 1.22) is displayed in the Paris Salon. He joins the Circle of Hungarian Impressionists and Naturalists (CHIN, in Hungarian "MIÉNK"). He paints in Mohács in the summer. > Vampires, draft (cat. 28); Vampires (Temptation, cat. 30); Nirvana, studies (cat. 37, 39); Sleeping Socac Peasant Woman (cat. 46) 1908 At the first exhibition of MIÉNK in the spring he shows the Flungarian Still-life and the Vampires, both painted in Paris. He exhibits Nirvana (cat. 38) in the Paris Salon but, due to the disadvantageous installa­tion, the highly expected success does not come. He participates in a representative exhibition in London with several pieces together with other members of the MIÉNK. Three of his works (including Flungarian Still-life) are displayed in the Salon d'Automne, a place of modern aspirations. The influence of the French Fauves and its followers is stronger and stronger in his painting. > Parisian Lady (Thamar, cat. 24); Bridge of River Seine (cat. 129) 1909 Nirvana is introduced in Hungary at the second exhibition of MIÉNK along with all its sketches and a new version of Flungarian Still-life. Csók has become the "classic of the Matisse enthusiasts"­­says a critic in Magyarország. In the summer he works in Mohács, in Darázs and in Balatonaliga. His "expressive folk genre-pictures" are displayed in the Autumn Salon, Pink Mill (At the Danube, cat. 45), Socac Funeral (Wooden Grave Post in Darázs, cat. 47) and the two Elder Tree (cat. 90-91). He is elected a member of sociétaire of the Salon d'Automne. Vampires is shown in the Hungarian portion of the 8th Venice Biennale. His daughter Júlia, nicknamed Züzü, is born in December. > Female Nude Next to a Chinese Chair (cat. 31 ) 1910 Several of his works are presented at the third exhibition of MIÉNK, including the modern folk genre-pictures previously displayed in the Autumn Salon. He moves back to Hungary with his family and settles down in Budapest. They rent a flat at Népszínház Street 17. The first Züzü paintings are born (Népszínház Street, X.13; Züziïs First Walk, cat. 67). Vampires, displayed at the exhibition of the Company, wins first prize at the Casino of Erzsébetváros, 500 Crowns. He participates in the international impressionist exhibi­tion of the Art House and displays his works at the representative Hungarian exhibition with other members of MIÉNK in Berlin. Béla
