Petres Éva, F.: Neolithic graves at Bicske - István Király Múzeum közelményei. A. sorozat 9. (Székesfehérvár, 1959)

T he King Stephen Museum of Székesfehérvár organized several excavations during the 1930s (1931—33) at Bicske (County of Fejér) (Fig. I. A. No. 4.) where neolithic tombs and stretches of settlements were discovered. The find spot is in the vineyard on the Galagonyás hill outside the village.1 These tombs have already repeatedly been dealt with in literature, without howewer, entering upon a closer interpretation of the subject.2 Since neolithic tombs in North-Transdanubia are not numerous, and, on the other hand, the chronology of the neolithic age is far from being determined, a publication of the Bicske tombs may be an important contribution towards the solution of the problem. Several tombs have been destroyed by earthwork in the vineyard before the excavations. On second hand information these are supposed to have been nine in number, placed in three rows.3 Excavations organized by the Museum brought to light seven further tombs.1 Accordingly the total number of burial places known up to day may be put to sixteen. The following tombs have been cleared in the excavations. Tomb 1. (Borderline between the Keller and the Reinhardt vineyards, 12 m from the roadway.)
