Keretezése és keresztje arany aláöltött lapos hímzés, ezüsttel átszőtt kék alapon pillangóval és igazgyöngy díszítéssel. A casulakereszt alján korona alatt lapos hímzéssel a térdelő donátor, Szent István felajánlja az országot Máriának. 124 x 87 cm és 14,5 x 15 cm Szeged, alsóvárosi ferences kolostor, ltsz.: CSF 157 UNKNOWN EMBROIDERER, HUNGARIAN WORK OF ART Mathias Chasuble and Palla Italian textile, Hungarian embroidery, 1773 A silk brocade woven with gold, silver, blue and green, a pomegranate patterned ornament from the 15 t h century. According to traditions, it was a donated by King Mathias in 1465. During his visit in Szeged the king entered Saint Demetrius church. There he perceived the worn vestments of the priest. The king took off his mantle from his shoulder and laid it over the altar offering it to the priest to have a new chasuble made of it. The cross on the chasuble was placed on subsequently. On the bottom of its vertical part under a crown, a scene in which Saint Stephen is offering Hungary to Virgin Mary is depicted. An inscription of gold and twisted strips reads: „Auxiliatrix Szegedien, 1773.", meaning the Virgin Mary, helper of Szeged. 124 x 87 cm és 14,5 x 15 cm Szeged-Alsóváros Franciscan monastery, inv.no.: CSF 157 14. ISMERETLEN OLASZ HÍMZŐ Szent Gellért-miseruha és burza, 1465/1630 olasz hímzés, firenzei munka, 15. század 101 x 76 cm és 21 x 22 cm Arannyal, ezüsttel, zölddel átszőtt bordó seiyembrokát, gránátalmadíszítéssel, a casulakeresztet aláöltött fémszálas aranyhímzés szegélyezi. A casulakereszt szakaszosan leoltott lapos hímzésű, az alakok és az architektúra körvonalai aláöltöttek. A kereszt szárain gótikus architektúrában az „angyali üdvözlet" és szentek. A középső fülkében Szent Gellért alakja áll. Szeged, alsóvárosi ferences kolostor, ltsz.: CSF 15s UNKNOWN ITALIAN EMBROIDERER Saint Gerard Chasuble and Burza, second half of is' h century Venetian brocade, its embroidery was made in Florence 101 x 76 cm és 21 x 22 cm Tradition relates the chasuble to Saint Gerard. It was most probably relocated in Szeged in the middle of the i6 l h century from the burial place of Gerard, the Virgin Mary church of Csanád. Franciscan monks fleeing from the Turks brought it along to the Alsóváros monastery of Szeged. The gold, silver and green woven pomegranate ornament from the is , h century was made of dark red material with an embroidered cross on the back. The scene of the annunciation is depicted in the horizontal section. On the left side, the archangel Gabriel while on the right side the Virgin Mary can be seen. A köpeny egyes részeit maga a királynő és udvarhölgyei hímezték. Mária Terézia fiának, II. Józsefnek az uralkodása alatt tomboló egyházüldözés idején kerültek e kincsek Szegedre. Szeged 161
