The past and present of houses with sunray-decoration in Makó

In my study, I present examples, historical changes and the visible examples of the 21stcentury re-finding of houses with sunray-decoration in Makó with patterns of the rays of sun, and gables with sunshine-formed decorations.

The Celebrated, Ferenc Tóth has also paid attention to the sunshine-decorated houses in Makó. An independent and analytical study has not yet been made on the subject. Local houses with sunshine-decorations have their own characteristics from an architectural style analysis point of view. There are two periods in the history of the sunshine-formed decorations on the gables of houses. The first group was created in the 19thand at the turn of 19th and 20thcenturies. While the second group came to existence at the turn of 20th and 21stcenturies. I examine the typology and motif analysis of the first group, and the circumstances of their creation of their second generation, along with the opin-ions and attitudes of house owners in Makó.
