PINTÉR ZSÓFIA Csipkeverés a Dél-Alföldön (2014. 12.29) Barangolás Szentes kincsei között - Paksi Márta: A szentesi csipke története: http://www.szenteskincsei.gportal.hu/gindex.php?pg=35277399&nid=6474070 (2014-12-29) http://www.delmagyar.hu/hodmezovasarhely_hirek/vert_csipke_hodmezovasar- helyrol/2041937/ (2017. 08.16.) Lace making in the Southern Great Plain My paper presents the history the features of lace making, and the works of three South Great Plain settlements’ - Szentes, Hódmezővásárhely and Makó - lace makers. The readers can learn about the 20th and 21st century history of lace making and its peculiarities in the South Great Plain through the lace making and teaching activities of Mrs. Rupaszov Hubert Margit from Szentes, of Katalin Pesti from Hódmezővásárhely and from Erzsébet Mátó from Makó. The theme selection is interesting because of the fact that in the 21st century the carefully crafted laces as handicraft products and works of art have been appreciated, and their demand increased at the same time. I find it very important to collect the data of this craft, as they have a great value of arts and crafts, as well as of local history. The products of home craft cooperatives along with today’s trendy, wearable lace collars are also mentioned in the study, which attempts to summarize a hundred years of development history. After the courses held in the 1910s, the time of flourishing and an opportunity for earning came in the 1920s for lace makers, but when the heydays were over its popularity dropped after the Second World War. Until the end of the twentieth century, there was no particular interest - thanks to the fashion and housing culture and the transformation of lifestyle. In the 1980s, county-level lace courses were held under a program promoted by national cultural institutes. The head of the courses was Magdolna Mátray, a lace maker folk artist who later contributed to the elaboration of the lace-maker’s National Qualifications Register exam in the ,90's. The lace and lace making techniques used in the settlements of the Southern Great Plain, Hómezővásárhely, Szentes, Makó and Orosháza have survived to this day - thanks also to the above mentioned information providers. The study intends to be of niche and value preservation will serve in the future as an additive for the lace history which only has a few written sources. 513
