Development of the Nagyatád carriage according to dr. Ferenc Toth's research is closely linked to the town of Makó: in his opinion the type of carriage named after István Nagyatádi Szabó, Minister of Agriculture was painted, had leaf springs and was used by well-off farmers had not been developed in Hódmezővásárhely but in Makó. It was not only suitable for passenger transportation but also for smaller loads when its rear seat was removed. In my study, I am to recall the history of a carriage purchased in the village of Szegvár, currently found in the Koszta József Museum in Szentes. The former owner used the it not only for weddings or school leaving events, but also was an active and regular participant in the nearby carriage driving races. Photographs and prizes documenting his oeuvre and the carriage itself were purchased by the Museum of Szentes in 2016.
