However, it proved to he a short-lived assotiation. About thirty years later, between the wars, again there were enthusiasts who revived it, but the operation of this re-formed company was thwarted by the Second World War. The study looks over the history of the society, its archaeological work and the excavations carried out with the Archaeological Institute of the University of Szeged. Although it existed for only 24 years, as a result of its operation the archaeological research of the county flourished, a monograph of the county was published, and the Museum of Makó was founded.
